Ten Ways to Personalise Your Wedding Day

Updated: Oct 3, 2022

Weddings come in many forms nowadays, with couples choosing to veer away from the traditional elements of a wedding and instead, adding their own personality and flair to the day. I love this evolution as when I attend a wedding, it is always the personal touches that I remember for years to come.

Your wedding should be no different… you are spending a lot of money on this day so why not make sure it is authentic, fun and reflects you as a couple! Once you have all the big stuff locked in, start to think about how you can embed your personalities throughout the day! Here are a few simple ideas to get you thinking….

Ten Personalisation Ideas:

1. Signature Cocktails:

If you love a good cocktail (or mocktail), why not create one for your guests to enjoy during the cocktail hour. You can even have a ‘his’ or ‘hers’ version and name them after yourselves!

2. Fun Signage:

In most situations, the stationery and signage which you order for the day needs to serve a functional purpose… but why not make them a little fun in the process! Add some humour, include a play on the words… if you keep it light, it will create an environment that matches it!

3. Accessories:

When having photos with your bridal party, you may like to consider adding some fun accessories to capture something a little less formal and a little more natural. If you’re a lover of wearing sunnies, get some for the whole crew! It’s crazy how popping a pair of fun sunnies on can increase people’s confidence and mood.

4. Interactive Dessert Station:

If people have been seated for a big portion of the reception, being able to move around and do something a little more interactive is a great idea. Instead of serving dessert to the tables, why not setup an interactive S’more station or Cookie Sandwich station where they build their own dessert.

5. Incorporate Your Interests:

When you think about what you and your partner love to do, what springs to mind? If you are huge coffee lovers, why not lock in a coffee cart to show up later in the night offering espresso coffees and martinis. Or perhaps you love Italian food so you may like to offer mini pizzas for supper later in the evening! Imagine how happy you would be if you saw your favourite foods show up on the best day of your life.

6. Photo Booth or Photo Wall:

Your guests will LOVE to take photos and capture the day through their phone. It’s always a great idea to setup some kind of photo area that has a fun backdrop or props to get some epic shots with. If your ceremony was on site, repurpose the archway or décor in combination with a couple of cool seats to create a fun photo wall.

7. Guest Comfort:

You can prioritise the comfort of your guests in a way that is thoughtful and fun. If you think the ladies will be uncomfortable in their heels, provide a cute bucket of Jandals for the dance floor later in the night. If you think people will get cold, provide a bundle of blankets or an outdoor fire pit for people to relax around. If you’re asking your guests to return the following day for brunch, you may even want to provide little hangover kits on their departure. It’s all about paying attention to the smaller details!

8. Fun Fact Napkins:

I am sure there are a few things about you and your fiancé that people don’t yet know. Add some fun facts to your cocktail napkins for your guests to enjoy reading. It’s fun to incorporate facts that are slightly out the gate and not too serious! They make for a great ice breaker for your guests to start conversation with others too.

9. Family

It is always so nice to include something from previous family weddings if you have anything special to you. For example, you may like to wear some family jewellery, or use the ribbon from your parents wedding cars to wrap around your bouquets. This will be special for you but also your family! You may even like to place out a few photos of your parents and grandparents’ wedding days for them to reminisce.

10. Lawn Games

There are no rules around what lawn games you offer whilst you are off getting group photos. If you want a bouncy castle, have one. If you want to setup a putting green, do it! People will love doing something a little different if it’s on offer!

Hopefully there are one or two ideas in here that will help to get you thinking about how you will personalise your day!
